a Candidate for the MHHA Board of Directors!
As two of our current Board members have decided not to run for a new three-year term, the Association
now has two vacant positions, which must, according to the terms of our by-laws, be filled. It is critical
that the Board function with a full membership in order to be able to meet the needs of the neighbors within our boundaries.
Succinctly stated, if the Board is to be optimally effective, it is imperative that all Board positions are filled.
If this does not occur, it is likely to become difficult to deal with situations that may be of critical importance
to our membership.
Many
neighbors may be concerned about the time commitment involved with serving as a Board member. Other than
attendance at one monthly evening meeting, unless there is a particular issue that must be dealt with, the time outlay is
reasonable. Board members volunteer to attend various city and neighborhood association meetings which
interest them and concern those living in our community. Others agree to coordinate agendas for our semi-annual
membership-wide meetings. If special difficulties arise, follow-up is allocated to individuals who are
able and willing to sort out the problem. Personal projects may be initiated and coordinated by interested
members. Over the years, many systems have already been put in place and may occasionally require review.
Now, more than ever, as a result of changes taking place in communities all over the city, it
is critical that neighbors become involved in the venues set up to ensure that their interests are not jeopardized.
The Association Board has been carrying out this function since Monterey Heights was built. To continue
with our commitment to making sure that our area continues to thrive, we need your help. Please notify
Barbara Gullion at bjgullion@speakeasy.net or Helen Scully at bobsculls@yahoo.com if you can join us as Board members.
